Curate

Back to Jobs

St. Margaret’s Westminster Parish

Annapolis, Maryland

St. Margaret’s, Westminster Parish in Annapolis, Maryland, a dynamic and historic parish with ASA of 325, seeks a newly ordained priest to serve as curate in charge of our growing and vibrant formation program. Responsibilities include preaching and teaching, pastoral duties, working with volunteers and ministering to youth and parents.

The candidate will have a passion for family ministry, with opportunities for ministry in several other areas, including worship planning, outreach and pastoral care.

St. Margaret’s has a wonderful Godly Play program, including two dedicated spaces for the curriculum. We also use Spark curriculum for grades 2-6, and offer gatherings for both junior high and senior high school youth on Sunday mornings. Our Youth Group meets on Monday nights during our parish-wide Faith and Fellowship evening, which includes a dinner and adult formation.
What we value above all in our programs that deal with youth and children is instilling a sense of belonging and safety. Kids face incredible pressure in our world, and we offer our church as a refuge of sorts, a place where they can freely explore their faith and take solace in the idea that they don’t need to know all the answers. It is vital that children be given a feeling of safety in a faith community, to be who they are and who they are becoming.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. Compensation includes health and dental coverage (single, HMO) and participation in the Church Pension Fund.

Responsibilities and areas of focus will include the following:
• Overseeing all facets of children, youth and adult formation
• Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
• Full participation in weekly Sunday worship rota (celebrating and preaching at our 3 services)
• Ministering to children, parents and families

Candidates should forward their OTM profile, resume, cover letter or video to:
