SEMINARY OF THE SOUTHWEST invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in Church History to begin Fall of 2014. A seminary of The Episcopal Church, Southwest prepares Christian leaders for lay and ordained service within and outside the church. In addition to priestly formation and general academic study, the seminary houses special programs in Hispanic Church Studies, Counseling, Pastoral Care, and Spiritual Formation.
The successful candidate will teach required and elective courses in Church History and will contribute to the formation of lay and ordained leaders within the Anglican and Episcopal tradition. The position requires full participation in the academic, pastoral, and communal life of the seminary and includes student advising, liturgical, and committee responsibilities. Proven teaching ability, familiarity with the Anglican tradition, and a demonstrated commitment to the Church's ministry are essential. A person of lively faith, the appointee will have a passion for the formation of Christians in a variety of vocations and across a diversity of contemporary ecclesial contexts. The seminary values a collegial working style and encourages inter-disciplinary conversation and team teaching. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Church History.
