Youth Minister

Back to Jobs

Christ Church

Macon, Georgia
(posted 3/21/17)

We are a midsized Episcopal Church (approx. 600 people) in downtown Macon. The majority of our parishioners live outside of the downtown area and are middle to upper class, well educated, and many are professionals in the community. Our worship is traditional and liturgical but the youth (and some of the younger adults) are interested in a more contemporary worship experience on at least an occasional basis. We have a youth program now but the youth minister is very part time and the program is needing further development to grow. We have many families with children and youth of all ages active in the parish. There is also ample opportunity for outreach in the community and there is interest among the youth to expand their involvement in outreach and in mission. The high school group also is hungry for more opportunity for Bible study and discipleship.

We seek a full time youth minister who will address the needs mentioned above and develop thriving programs for junior high and for senior high youth. The youth minister would also be responsible for teaching (or arranging for a teacher for) Confirmation and Sunday School for the youth. We would like to see the development of a summer mission trip as well. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience and health insurance and pension are provided. We seek someone who is able to actively engage with the youth and be a strong spiritual leader among that community. A spirituality and theology consistent with the Nicene Creed is required as well as training and experience in youth ministry, an ability to lead active outdoor activities, a heart for developing the faith of young people, and an open and welcoming, nonjudgmental attitude.

Salary competitive and health insurance provided.
