A “recovering banker” with a heart for helping, Charley Scarborough, CFP™,CFRE, brings two careers worth of experience to bear in helping organizations reach their goals. Before joining Seminary of the Southwest, he led Scarborough & Associates nonprofit consulting, where he and his team worked with over 125 nonprofit organizations across the southwest. From grant development and fundraising strategy to strategic planning and executive coaching, Scarborough & Associates has helped organizations and their leaders become the best versions of themselves for their communities.
Prior to launching Scarborough & Associates, LLC, Charley served as Chief Philanthropy & Engagement Officer for Mission Capital, a Central Texas nonprofit dedicated to capacity building, leadership training and developing social impact leverage for more than 600 nonprofit members and clients. Leading to that engagement, for fifteen years he focused on philanthropy for Seton Healthcare Family in Central Texas, leading teams in numerous fundraising campaigns, events and grant development efforts to raise over $150M during his tenure.
Charley’s nonprofit fundraising experience is balanced by a career as a trust officer and Certified Financial Planner with major banks and brokerage firms. His relationships and understanding of charitable gift planning with high net worth families continues to be an asset in the nonprofit sector today, while a banker’s attention to performance metrics and measurement drives his work with nonprofits in helping them achieve and report results.
Mr. Scarborough holds a BA in Psychology from Texas Christian University and has achieved certifications as Certified Financial Planner (CFP ™) and Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE). His most recent volunteer board service includes the Seton Cove, Wonders & Worries, International Association of Fundraising Professionals Austin Chapter, and the Grants Professionals Association of Austin.
