For the fall 2020 semester, the Booher Library is open only to Southwest students and faculty due to the presence of COVID-19 in the community. The seminary will update this page with any changes to that policy. All Booher Library card holders are encouraged to contact the library staff at library@ssw.edu or 512-478-5212 for assistance and to request items through curbside pick-up. We will be happy to hear from you!

The staff is available to help library users find, retrieve, and assess resources for research or coursework. The following options are available:

Need a book?

Booher Library cardholders: Please request items through this online form. We will put the order together for you, check out the items for you, and contact you when they are ready to be picked up.

Online tutorials (available 24/7)

Short videos that describe how to find and use electronic resources are housed on the library’s webpage and available to students 24/7. Students only need an internet connection to access these videos. Topics covered include conducting searches in our discovery tool, Seeker, accessing resources from off campus, and interlibrary loan.

Zoom Consultations (by request)

Any Southwest student or faculty member may request a one-on-one zoom session with the library staff. Depending on the nature of the research question, the appropriate member of the staff will be assigned to host the session.

Booher Library Research & Questions Session

The library staff hosts a weekly Zoom session for Southwest students and faculty with questions about using the library’s resources. It takes place from 12:30pm – 1:15pm on Wednesdays. Please consult the campus calendar for the Zoom link to the session.

Email assistance

When contacting the library staff with a research question, we encourage Southwest students, faculty, and Booher Library patrons to use the email address library@ssw.edu for the quickest response. That email is a distribution list that sends the user’s email to the four full time library staff members. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Drop ins

For Southwest students and faculty only: you may drop by the Welcome Desk for assistance, but we recommend making an appointment ahead of time, if possible, by contacting us at library@ssw.edu.
