SUMMARY:Holy Week and the Triduum 2026
DESCRIPTION:Holy Week and the Triduum\nSeminary of the Southwest will begin its observance of Holy Week and the Triduum on Monday\, March 30th. The paschal mystery we celebrate is the energizing source of our life together. \nThe entire community is invited and encouraged to attend. Families are welcome\, as are any guests. We expect all students preparing for ordained ministry to participate in the week’s liturgies. Faculty members will be preaching at the Eucharist each day. \nOn Monday through Wednesday of Holy Week\, the worship schedule is as usual: Morning Prayer at 9:00 a.m.\, Eucharist at 11:45 a.m.\, and Evening Prayer at 5 p.m. (except on Tuesday when Tenebrae replaces Evening Prayer). Unless otherwise noted\, all services will be celebrated with procession and music and held in Christ Chapel. \nPlease note the following unique Holy Week services: \n  \n\nHoly Tuesday (March 31\, 2026)\n\n\nTenebrae\, 5:00 p.m.\, Christ Chapel\n\n\nPlease join us in Christ Chapel on Holy Tuesday\, March 31st\, for a service structured around chanted psalms\, readings\, and responsories. The distinctive ceremonial of the service includes fifteen candles\, symbolizing the triumph of Christ over evil and death. \n\nMaundy Thursday (April 2\, 2026)\n\n\nNoonday Prayer\, 11:45 a.m.\, Christ Chapel\, with the Exhortation\n\n\nMaundy Thursday Holy Eucharist\, 5:30 p.m.\, Christ Chapel\n\n\nMaundy Thursday Eucharist with Foot Washing and Stripping of the Altar. Following the Maundy Thursday Service\, we will hold an Agape Meal in Howell Dining Hall. RSVP here. \n\n\nOvernight “Vigil at the Altar of Repose” Following Maundy Thursday – 11:45 a.m.\, Friday\, Christ Chapel\n\n\nImmediately following the Maundy Thursday service until the Good Friday Service at 11:45 AM\, an all-night vigil will be held in the chapel. You and members of your household are invited to symbolically keep watch with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane through the night in one-hour increments. Please use this form to sign up for a spot. \n\nGood Friday (April 3\, 2026)\nNo Office services today. \n\n\nGood Friday Service of Solemn Collects together with Veneration of the Cross and Communion from the Reserve\, 11:45 a.m.\, Christ Chapel\n\n\n\nCommunion from the Reserve. No classes will be held\, and faculty and administration offices will be closed. \n\n\nImmediately following Good Friday Service: Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross) in the Kittredge Motte. Pray the fourteen Stations of the Cross with a solemn bilingual service with movement and music. All community members are welcome—no knowledge of Spanish is required.\n\n\n  \n\nHoly Saturday (April 4\, 2026)\n\n\nHoly Saturday Liturgy\, 11:45 a.m.\, Christ Chapel\n\n\nThe Great Vigil of Easter\, 8:00 p.m.\, Christ Chapel\n\n\nClergy from the Southwest community and others who would like to join should arrive at 7:15 p.m. in order to vest and line up for the procession. Clergy should bring a cassock\, surplice\, and white stole. DESCRIPTION:  \nPlease join the community of Seminary of the Southwest for the two ceremonies it holds each year to celebrate graduation – an evening service of Holy Eucharist and a formal morning Commencement. These services recognize and celebrate graduating students and award degrees in divinity\, religion\, counseling\, chaplaincy and pastoral care\, and spiritual formation and diplomas in Anglican studies and in theological studies. \nIt was recently announced that 28th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church the Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe\, will preach at the Commencement Exercises. Honorary doctorates will be presented to Bishop Rowe\, Rt. Rev.
