Official Announcement – EVP Clement – 5/27/2021

<<< Back to Covid Response Page

Dear Members of the Seminary Community,

I write with an important update and reminder about our COVID-19 protocols.

The Austin Public Health Authority has announced that Austin-Travis County is now in Stage 2 of its  COVID-19 Risk-Based GuidelinesHere’s what this means for the Austin community.

Fully Vaccinated Persons on Campus

In light of this improvement, Southwest has revised its on-campus mask wearing policy to align with current CDC guidance. Beginning June 1, all fully vaccinated persons on campus will no longer be required to wear masks or exercise social distancing indoors and outdoors.

Unvaccinated Persons on Campus

If you are not fully vaccinated, we require that you continue to wear a mask indoors, unless in an enclosed private space.  While outdoors on campus, wear a mask whenever you are less than 6 feet apart from anyone else.

Please be mindful that many in our community have children too young to be vaccinated. We ask that you practice caution around children and others who have not been vaccinated. If you are unvaccinated, please respect requests from others who might ask you to wear a mask while around them or their families.

This protocol applies to all areas on campus, including the common areas of student housing and College Court swimming pool.

Reminders

  • All faculty, staff, and students enrolling in the fall 2021 semester must submit proof of vaccination by July 15. Please use this secure form to do so.
  • If you are requesting an exemption from vaccination, please use this confidential application to do so. Exemption applications must also be submitted online by July 15.

Due to the diligence of this community, there has not been a known case of COVID-19 transmission from one member of our community to another outside of their household. Our commitment to the well-being of one another honors the seminary’s core values. Thank you for your continuing vigilance.
