Guidance on Return to Campus Housing after Domestic Travel
Gov. Abbott has expanded travel restrictions, requiring 14 day self-quarantine for travelers from anywhere in Louisiana and for those flying in from Miami, Atlanta, Detroit and Chicago, as well as anywhere in California and Washington.
This is in addition to the same restrictions on travelers from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, as well as the city of New Orleans.
Outside of this current order, there are no additional restrictions on domestic travel. However if you know you have been exposed while traveling domestically, please adhere to reporting guidelines listed below. The seminary anticipates the virtual instruction accommodations will serve as a form self-isolation. This will also make it possible for students to remain in the location to which they have traveled during this period of virtual instruction.
Guidance on Travel
NOTE: On March 11, the White House issued new travel restrictions for travelers from Europe.
Mindful that some may have international travel plans during Spring Break (March 14-22), please find the guidelines that the seminary is implementing for all members of our campus community who have or will have visited domestic and international localities affected by COVID-19. In issuing today’s guidelines, please refer to authoritative guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC has categorized the following countries for risk assessment of the coronavirus:
Guidance on Personal Travel
The seminary does not set requirements for personal travel, but we strongly urge people not to travel to areas with active community transmission or to Level 1, 2 or 3 countries. All travelers are encouraged to check the CDC’s COVID-19 travel page, State Department travel advisories, and the International Air Transport Association’s list of travel and entry restrictions for the latest information before departing.
All persons in our community visiting Level 2 or 3 countries, or returning from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey or the city of New Orleans, are required to undergo a 14-day self-isolation period before returning to any common areas on campus (classrooms, library, Christ Chapel, offices, ADC, archives, etc.) and to notify the Office of the Executive Vice President of such travel via email or (512) 439-0390. Students who travel to a Level 2 or 3 country may self-isolate for the 14-day period in their leased home or apartment on campus, avoiding to the extent practicable common areas of College Court. Note that if you leave the country, travel abroad may affect your ability to return to the United States and to campus.
Guidance on Returning to the U.S.
Persons returning from Level 2 or 3 countries must follow CDC guidelines by self-isolating at their on- or off-campus place of residence for 14 days. Should symptoms occur, seek immediate medical attention.
Guidance for International Travel
No seminary-sponsored travel to, through, or from Level 1, 2 and 3 countries is planned for the remainder of this academic semester.
