Today’s #mySSW chat: Student Engagement During Campus Breaks

This post was originally published on the MyMinistry.org website.  MyMinistry.org is a program launched by Seminary of the Southwest that seeks to assist young adults in nurturing Christian vocation and discerning their vocations as lay and ordained leaders in the Episcopal Church.
Applications for the Fall 2013 Parish Fellowship Program are now being accepted.

MyMinistry.org (@MyMinistryorg) is hosting live Twitter Chats (#mySSW) along side Seminary of the Southwest (@mySSW).  We invite you to join the conversation on Episcopal Campus Ministries and Young Adult Ministries with special guest, the Rev. Matt Wise (@putridjones), Wednesday, June 19 at 11:00 AM CDT.  Use hashtag: #mySSW to participate.

Beginning with the congregation that his parents still attend in Victoria, Texas, the Episcopal Church has shaped Matt his entire life.  His formation continued in the Canterbury community at Texas A&M University until his graduation in 2002. He was hired as Director of Youth Ministries at St. Thomas, San Antonio before attending seminary at Sewanee. In 2008 he returned to San Antonio as the Associate Rector for Church of Reconciliation, where a staff member introduced Matt to her close childhood friend, Amy, who just happened to be Matt’s soul mate, and they were married in 2011. Matt has created and served in a collaborative ministry between Reconciliation, St. Mark’s and the Work+Shop since January.  His Americana band plays regular Saturday night gigs, making 8am liturgies seem earlier than they are. Find Matt on Twitter @putridjones and visit his website at http://matthewwise.wordpress.com/.

Matt and his Canterbury at Texas A&M University (@TAMUcanterbury) have started up the “Summer Lunch Time” for all the Episcopal Aggies to stay connected this summer. The TAMU Canterbury will be gathering to break bread together at a local venue for fellowship and connection.  “We’re doing this once a week during the summer to remain connected with one another and to provide easy opportunities for students to invite their friends along.” – Matt Wise

MyMinistry.org is very excited to have special guest, Matt Wise (@putridjones), on our Twitter chat (#myssw) this Wednesday, 6/19/2013 at 11am CDT. He will be sharing his knowledge on his experience as the Campus Missioner for Texas A&M University in College Station, TX (@TAMUcanterbury). Join us as we discuss ideas and strategies to keep students connected to their Episcopal Student Center/Canterbury during academic breaks.

Be sure to check out #mySSW chat every Wednesday @11am CDT this summer!
