From Dr. Lloyd regarding his lecture topic: “What a time to be in the church! Just about every certainty about who we are, how we relate to the society around us, how we worship and share our faith, and what it means to be disciples is being questioned. This is the time of a new reformation in the church, and the most challenging part is that no one is quite sure what this new church will look like.
Where is the Spirit leading us? This Lecture will scan the landscape, ask some questions, and offer some suggestions about where we might be going.”

Lloyd will preach at the Holy Eucharist in Christ Chapel earlier in the day at 11:45 a.m.

Dr. Lloyd’s March 2, 2014 sermon

Known as one of this country’s finest preachers, Lloyd served as dean of the Washington National Cathedral from 2005 – 2011, before returning to Trinity Church, where he had been rector for almost 12 years.

In his sermon last January at his institution as the 20th rector of Trinity Church, Dr. Lloyd said “Newness is God’s hallmark…God’s brand. Newness is what God does.” Join us to hear what Dr. Lloyd has to say to us about “All Things New.”

The Harvey Lecture, organized annually by seminarians, honors the late Hudnall Harvey, dean of Seminary of the Southwest from 1968 until his death in 1972. The lectureship serves as a living memorial to Dean Harvey’s ministry at the seminary.

Please let us know that you’re coming to the lecture.
