The Daily Office Lectionary readings begin on pg. 934 of the BCP with a short explanation. The first day of Advent is considered the church New Year. From Advent 1 leading into an even numbered year, we are in ‘Year Two.’ From Advent 1 leading into an odd numbered year, we are in ‘Year One.’ For Morning Prayer, we read the appointed Hebrew Scriptures from the current year and the Gospel from the current year. For Evening Prayer, we read the appointed Hebrew Scriptures from the other year and the New Testament reading from the current year.
