Evening of Latin American Art and Culture

The seminary community and guests were treated to An Evening of Latin American Art and Culture in the Weeks Campus Center on Friday, September 12. Visual artists, dancers, poets, a musician and a playwright offered their gifts to the audience who came out in spite of the rainy weather.

Performances included dancers Mickey Jacobs and Orazzio Loayza, dance instructors at Esquina Tango; original poetry by Ignacio Carvajal, a PhD student in the department of Spanish and Portuguese at The University of Texas; readings by Rupert Reyes, artistic director of the bilingual theatre Teatro Vivo; original musical compositions by Amy Zamarripa, who also displayed her acrylic on glass paintings; Karen Bravo performing a dance typical of Seville; and poetry readings by playwright and visual artist Enedina Cásarez Vásquez, DSF '13.

Sponsored by Hispanic Church Studies at the seminary and organized by student Sandra Bravo, MAR '15, the event was part of the seminary's observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.
