Bexley Seabury Seminary announced today that The Rev. Micah T.J. Jackson has been named as its new president, succeeding the Rev. Dr. Roger Ferlo, who retired in the fall of 2017. The Rev. Jackson will assume the presidency on June 1, 2018.
“In his roles as teacher, preacher, scholar, advisor, and colleague, Micah has brought passion, hard work, and good humor. Micah, his wife Laura, and son Benjamin have been, and will remain, beloved members of our community. His faculty and staff colleagues send him to Bexley Seabury with confidence and deep affection,” said The Very Rev. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, Dean and President of Seminary of the Southwest.
For the past ten years, Jackson has served as the Bishop John Hines Associate Professor of Preaching, as well as holding several other roles centered on the life and well-being of the seminary community.
Reflected Jackson on his transition: “As I become President of one of our sister seminaries, I am profoundly grateful for the formation and example of leadership that this community has given me, especially that of Dean and President Cynthia Kittredge. I thank all who have passed through my classroom for the opportunity to be a part of your formation for ministry. Know that, though I may be far away, Seminary of the Southwest will always be close to my heart.”
Please join all of us in the community of Seminary of the Southwest as we wish Micah all success at Bexley Seabury and honor the legacy he leaves at Southwest.
