Fellows Programs
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Seminary of the Southwest offers distinctive Fellows programs that can support students interested in wanting to support the mission-based outcomes of each program. Please see below for information.
Harrison Fellows Program
Upon graduation, Harrison Fellows are placed at Burke, a provider of mental health services that operates 47 facilities in 12 East Texas counties. Fellows earn a full-time salary and benefits valued at $48,000 while completing the 3,000 hours of on-the-job, supervised, post-graduate training required by Texas to become fully-licensed counselors. Fellows also receive a generous package of financial benefits that cover relocation, licensing and exam fees, as well as the cost of LPC supervision.
Richmond Area Bilingual Fellows Program
Approximately 60% of Richmond area residents are Latinx, with 1 in 4 households living below the poverty level. The shortage of Spanish-speaking mental health providers is a well-documented barrier to access to counseling services. Our goal is to establish a pipeline of Spanish-speaking mental health counselors to serve the diverse individuals and families of the greater Richmond, TX area. To do so will require trainees not only equipped to provide culturally and spiritually-responsive care, but also Spanish-speaking services to Latinx individuals and families.
