The Seminary of the Southwest Board of Trustees has announced the launch of the search for the ninth dean and president of Southwest.
“We are excited to announce the launch of the search for this critically important position,” said the Rt. Rev. Kathryn M. Ryan, chair of the Southwest Board of Trustees and Bishop Suffragan in the diocese of Texas. “The next dean of Seminary of the Southwest will have the opportunity to influence the vocational formation of the next generation of priests, counselors, and lay leaders, who will each in turn go on to the impact the lives of so many.”
The announcement comes after the Very Rev. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, the eighth dean and president of Seminary of the Southwest, announced recently that she would leave the position on June 30, 2024. She will leave after 11 years as dean and president, and more than 25 years of service to the seminary.
Bishop Ryan formed a preparation for transition committee consisting of members of the board, faculty, and administration, and sought feedback from students and other key constituencies. This group helped to prepare an in-depth candidate profile to support the search. A formal search committee has been formed, chaired by the Honorable Lora Livingston and the Rev. Lisa Mason, both members of the Board of Trustees.
The deadline for candidates to submit their application is February 29, 2024.
The full candidate profile and more instructions on how to apply can be found on the seminary website.
