On Nov. 9, the Diocese of West Missouri elected the Very Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux, Class of 2002, to be its ninth diocesan bishop. The election was held during the diocese’s 135th annual convention at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City. She was chosen on the first ballot.
“I want to congratulate Amy on her election as bishop,” said Dr. Scott Bader-Saye, dean and president. “What a joy to see her gifts celebrated and recognized in this way. She will be a gift to the church.”
Dean Meaux currently serves as dean and rector of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, AR. Appopinted in 2020, she was the first woman dean of the cathedral. She previously served parishes in New Orleans, Louisiana; Dallas, Texas and Danville, Kentucky.
“I’m so humbled,” said Dean Meaux after her election. “Your trust and your support mean the world to me, and I’m just so excited to get there.”
Pending consent, Meaux will be ordained and consecrated on May 3, 2025, and will succeed Bishop Provisional Diane M. Jardine Bruce, who has served the diocese since Dec. 1, 2021.
