Camp Mitchell is an Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center in the Diocese of Arkansas. It has a long history of providing meaningful and fun summer camp programming to children in elementary through high school as well as to adults with mental and physical deficits. Camp Mitchell is looking for an enthusiastic and spiritually grounded ordination tract seminarian who is excited about serving as Chaplain during Camp Mitchell’s 2018 Summer Camp Program. Applicants need to demonstrate both a deep love of Jesus Christ and an enthusiasm for sharing that love through the ministry of summer camp. The Chaplain will need to be a leader in teaching grace and love while also being able to serve long hours in a large group of people. The central role of the Chaplain will be to provide spiritual leadership and nourishment for the Summer Camp Staff and Volunteers through regular worship, small group and one on one interaction, and by being present during programming, while also assisting session clergy in meeting the needs of campers. The Chaplain will help lead staff training and be a mouthpiece for the spiritual nature of our summer theme, “No hands, no feet on earth but yours.” This position provides housing, meals when camp is in session, and a small stipend.

Requirements:
• Be present to all training and camp programming
• Provide the summer staff with daily opportunities for worship
• Seek opportunities to teach summer staff new forms of prayer (Lectio Divina, Daily Office, African Bible Study, Centering Prayer)
• Help Session Directors integrate Christian Formation into the summer theme
• Assist session clergy with any practical needs of worship that they might have
• Lead training on Camp Mitchell’s Rule of Life
• Help facilitate theological reflection groups
• Assist in conflict resolution, as needed
• Provide pastoral care to staff and campers, as needed
• Help staff maintain level of intentionality and awareness around their work as a ministry
• Engage with campers in a Christian and loving manner
