On Monday, October 5, 2020, donors and volunteers joined Seminary of the Southwest for a virtual celebration of the tremendous generosity that supporters have shown for FORMING LEADERS AT THE FRONTIER: CAMPAIGN FOR SOUTHWEST.
“Gathering to celebrate and affirm the overwhelming support shown for this campaign was such a blessing – especially now. The virtual event celebrated a serious project with a playful and joyous spirit. It was wonderful to see so many friends in Gallery View,” said the Very Rev. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, dean and president.
Attendees, each of whom was a donor to FORMING LEADERS AT THE FRONTIER, heard from Dean Kittredge and other leaders from across The Episcopal Church speak to the vital importance of this campaign. The Most Rev. Michael Curry, presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church and the campaign honorary chair, shared with donors his gratitude for their commitment.
“Thank you. Thank you for making it possible, the formation and education of men and women who will lead into this new frontier,” said Bishop Curry. “Because of you generations ahead will serve and follow in the way of Jesus and help this world look something like God’s dream.”
The Rt. Rev. Kathryn Ryan, bishop suffragan in the diocese of Texas – and proud Southwest alumna – blessed the space where the future building project will happen, joined by Booher Library director Alison Poage and several current Southwest students.
The Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, bishop of Texas and campaign tri-chair, opened the event with prayer and later introduced several ‘Six Word Stories’ about the campaign written by many of the volunteers. Guests at the event began to submit their own Six Word Stories in the chatroom, which have been collected here.
