Seminary of the Southwest is pleased to announce that Ms. Teri Lawver will join its board of trustees in May 2015. Ms. Lawver is global commercial strategy leader and global vice president for the cardiovascular and metabolism therapeutic area with Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson.

The Winter 2015 issue features an article by the Rev. Jane Patterson about the funding of The Helen and Bishop Everett H. Jones Chair in Christian Ethics and Moral Theology and Professor Scott Bader-Saye who holds the chair.

Alison Poage to lead Booher Library
Dean and President Cynthia Briggs Kittredge has announced that Alison O'Reilly Poage, interim director of the Booher Library at Seminary of the Southwest, has been offered and has accepted the position of director of the Booher Library.
Barbeque competition raises funds for relief and development
A barbeque competition organized by students at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin has raised over $5000 for Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD). Now in its third year, the March 7th fundraiser, Southwest Showdown, brought friends and neighbors, alumni and trustees and a panel of judges, including ERD staff member Chad Brinkman to the seminary campus for the event.
Rule of Life includes financial wellness
This year the entire seminary community is being introduced to the discipline of establishing a personal Rule of Life as part of the seminary's commitment to Comprehensive Wellness for Ministry.
The focus for Spring 2015 is financial wellness. Subsequent semesters will address vocational, spiritual and physical wellness.

Editor's note: Lucy and Daniel Strandlund from the Diocese of Alabama represented Seminary of the Southwest at the annual meeting of the Compass Rose Society in London on Oct. 12-13, 2014. Southwest is an institutional member of the Society. Lucy is a student in the MA in Spiritual Formation program and Daniel is an MDiv student. Both will graduate in May 2015.
