Please join our community as we welcome The Right Reverend Carl Wright, Bishop Suffragan for Armed Services and Federal Ministries, and celebrate the launch of Seminary of the Southwest’s new Master of Divinity degree with a Military Chaplaincy concentration.
The Right Reverend Carl Walter Wright is the Bishop Suffragan for the Armed Forces and Federal Ministries of The Episcopal Church. Prior to being elected Bishop, Wright served as Rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Pasadena, Maryland and as Archdeacon for Deployment and Pastoral Care in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. Wright enlisted in the US Air Force in 1978. Following his initial enlistment, Wright graduated from US Army ROTC and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the Maryland Army National Guard, and US Army Reserve. In 1993, Wright was commissioned a Chaplain, US Air Force until his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2011. He has authored several articles on Church History and has lectured on the challenges of ministry as a military chaplain in combat.
