Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) has arrived at Seminary of the Southwest! Join us for any of the events planned by our Department of Latinx Studies to celebrate with our community.
Hispanic Heritage Month Eucharist and Fiesta
September 15 @ 5:30 in the Weeks Center
- Kickoff Celebration Hispanic Heritage Month Eucharist and Fiesta. Plan to join us in the cafeteria for some good worship, soul-stirring music, and delicious food.
Arte de Lagrimas Reception
September 19 @ 5:30 in the Weeks Center
- Arte de Lágrimas is much more than a collection of drawings or pieces of art from refugees and asylum seekers. It is the story of those who for too long have been kept at the margins, othered, and vilified. It is a call to action for everyone with a conscience to see, hear, and feel the stories of those who often are not given a chance to speak for themselves through a variety of mediums. Join us for a reception and conversation about the exhibit with Dr. Gregory Cuellar Associate Professor of Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Service and Fellowship at Casa Marianella
September 25 @ 5pm at Casa Marianella
- Join us for a beautiful bilingual service, food, dancing, and getting our hands dirty as we help the residents of Casa Marianella restore their beautiful mural.
Hispanic Heritage Month Community Hour
October 10 @ 4pm in the Motte on the Southwest campus
- Join us for an elote bar and Millenial Loteria. We will celebrate the closing of HHM with laughter and special prizes!
