It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the recent death of the Rt. Rev. David E. Bailey, former bishop of the Missionary Diocese of Navajoland. A beloved and long-time friend and alumnus of the seminary, he was granted a Master of Divinity in 1991 and was granted an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity at the Blandy Alumni Convocation In 2012. Bishop Bailey was also our Payne Lecturer in 2020. He passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the age of 84.

A public memorial service will be held at All Saints Church in Farmington, New Mexico, where the Navajoland Area Mission is based. Details will be shared toward the end of August. Read more about Bishop Bailey from Episcopal News Service.
