    Richmond Area Bilingual Fellows Program

    Richmond Area Bilingual Fellows Program

    Southwest seeks applicants to be Richmond Area Bilingual Fellows

    Are you interested in becoming a Spanish-speaking counselor to serve Latinx children and families?

    Applicants must be bilingual Spanish/English speakers willing to relocate to the Richmond, TX area to accept a paid full-time fellowship position for two years following graduation.

    Selected applicants will be eligible for:

    • Tuition assistance of up to 80% or more;
    • Subsidized on-campus housing (pending availability);
    • Training in bilingual/bicultural counseling with Latinx clients
    • Full-time employment as an LPC-Associate for two years upon graduation, with salary and benefits.

    The need for bilingual counselors to provide spiritually-integrated, culturally responsive counseling to Latinx children and families has never been greater. Fellows who meet the MHC degree program and fellows requirements will have guaranteed placement with The Houston Galveston Institute for their  two-year paid post-graduate counseling fellowship.  A stipend for moving costs to the Richmond area will be provided. During these two years, fellows will receive a salary and full benefits paid as well as all supervisory fees covered.  This will allow fellows to complete the 3,000 supervised hours required for LPC licensing by the state of Texas.

    Fellows agree to enroll as full time students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Southwest and maintain full-time status for the entirety of the MHC degree program.
