Seminary of the Southwest announced recently that delivery of classes for the Spring 2021 semester will remain in the primarily remote modality that it is currently using. In this model, all classes are offered with an entirely remote option, with a handful of classes also offered with an opt-in, in-person option, where strict social distancing measures are in place.
“Over the last few weeks the Dean’s Council and the COVID-19 Task Force have been discerning how to move forward with January and spring courses. Although local hospitalization numbers have come down substantially from the mid-summer high, there has been an uptick in the last month. Given this, and the overall concern about increased numbers nationwide, it seems wise to continue to deliver spring classes with the same options we made available in the fall,” said Dr. Scott Bader-Saye, academic dean, in the statement.
Throughout the pandemic, Southwest has worked to find lower-risk ways to maintain community and continue worship, while placing the highest priority upon the health and safety of the members of Southwest community.
“It is with a sense of disappointment that I look toward another semester of reduced in-person instruction and campus life, but I trust that we will continue to maximize the various modes of connecting and learning that are available to us,” added Bader-Saye.
