Rule of Life includes financial wellness

This year the entire seminary community is being introduced to the discipline of establishing a personal Rule of Life as part of the seminary's commitment to Comprehensive Wellness for Ministry.

The focus for Spring 2015 is financial wellness. Subsequent semesters will address vocational, spiritual and physical wellness.

On February 25, Dr. Steven Tomlinson, founder and master teacher at Acton School of Business in Austin and the 2014 recipient of the seminary's McDonald Teaching Award, led a discussion with students, faculty and staff on A Theology of Money: Crafting a Financial Rule of Life. Academic Dean Scott Bader-Saye, reflecting on Tomlinson's session said, "Steven is deeply involved in his faith community and is in a unique position to bridge the world of business and money with the world of theology and church. He led us into engaging, soul-searching, and transformative reflections."

An encore presentation of A Theology of Money: Crafting a Financial Rule of Life by Dr. Steven Tomlinson will be held on Wednesday evening, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Knapp Auditorium on the seminary campus.

The seminary will welcome Mr. James Murphy, managing program director for the Episcopal Church Foundation in New York on March 25, when he will speak from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. in Knapp Auditorium on Fulfilling your Wishes: Planning for the End of Life. Jim's session will include important issues such as reviewing medical care options if you are incapacitated, how you wish be remembered to your loved ones, planning your estate and taking the time now to decide what your wishes will be–all important steps for everyone, but especially for those involved in pastoral ministry. This useful and informative workshop will help participants plan now for their end of life so that someone else doesn't make those decisions on their behalf.
