Seminarians represent Southwest at London meeting

Seminarians Lucy Strandlund, MSF 2015 and Daniel Strandlund, MDiv 2015 from the Diocese of Alabama will represent Seminary of the Southwest at the annual meeting of the Compass Rose Society in London on October 12 – 13, 2014.

"This will be the first visit to the United Kingdom for both of us, and we are thrilled to visit a place so near to the heart of our tradition and to meet members of the wider Anglican Communion," said Ms. Strandlund.

The meeting will conclude with a gathering at the historic Stationers’ Hall hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby and Mrs. Caroline Welby.

Named for the symbol of the Anglican Communion, the Compass Rose Society was established so that individuals, parishes, dioceses, provinces and institutions throughout the world could be aware of and support the work of the Anglican Communion. The association has over 300 members from 11 countries.

The Rev. Canon John L. Peterson is the current president of the Society, which recently invited seminaries to become members in part so that students might connect with the work of the Society and develop a “broad vision of the Anglican Communion.” Seminary of the Southwest is one of the Society’s institutional members.
