Rev. Nadine McElroy, Advent Meditation
Prayer is the expression of our relationship with God. He knows who and what we are, and what we are made of. He wants to hear from us. Not just in times of trouble, but in times of plenty, in times of joy, in times of sorrow, in times of pain, in times of need, and in times of want. He hears, he listens to all of it. He just wants to hear from us. He wants our love, our dependency and trust in Him but, above all, He wants to give us the answers we need, not the answers we are looking for.
Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your heart quiet and at rest if you trust in Christ Jesus.
Merciful God, as we wait for your answers to our prayers, let us continue to sing hymns and give you praise. Amen.
