SEMINARY OF THE SOUTHWEST invites applications for a full-time Professor of Pastoral Theology and Director
Seminary of the Southwest held its sixty-fourth Commencement on Tuesday morning, May 12 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Austin.
The seminary awarded master's degrees to 29 students completing the master of divinity, master's in religion, master's in counseling, master's in chaplaincy and pastoral care and master's in spiritual formation. Four students received diplomas in Anglican studies or in theological studies.
Seminary of the Southwest is pleased to announce that Ms. Teri Lawver will join its board of trustees in May 2015. A barbeque competition organized by students at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin has raised over $5000 for Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD). Now in its third year, the March 7th fundraiser, Southwest Showdown, brought friends and neighbors, alumni and trustees and a panel of judges, including ERD staff member Chad Brinkman to the seminary campus for the event.
This year the entire seminary community is being introduced to the discipline of establishing a personal Rule of Life as part of the seminary's commitment to Comprehensive Wellness for Ministry.
The focus for Spring 2015 is financial wellness. Subsequent semesters will address vocational, spiritual and physical wellness.

Editor's note: Lucy and Daniel Strandlund from the Diocese of Alabama represented Seminary of the Southwest at the annual meeting of the Compass Rose Society in London on Oct. 12-13, 2014. Southwest is an institutional member of the Society. Lucy is a student in the MA in Spiritual Formation program and Daniel is an MDiv student. Both will graduate in May 2015.
Seminary of the Southwest has announced that it reached—and exceeded—its Campaign for Leadership fundraising goal, receiving gifts of more than $16 million.
The announcement came October 9 as the seminary celebrated John Hines Day, its annual recognition of its founder. Alumni and church leaders joined faculty, staff and seminary trustees in the celebration.
